Department of Language and Communication Sciences Announces Commencement of New Language Proficiency Short Courses

The Department of Language and Communication Sciences at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has announced the commencement of its Language Proficiency Short Courses aimed at equipping participants with practical communication skills in multiple languages.
According to the Coordinator for the Language For All program, Dr. Bernard Ampong, “the aim of the Language For All program is to offer everyone, enthusiast of languages or not an opportunity to learn other languages in this fast-growing world.”
He also mentioned that the program offers opportunity for learners to build cross cultural capabilities to enable one to fit into other cultures, also serving as an added advantage in the global world and building an environment for networking.
The programmes offered under the department’s “Language For All” initiative provide face-to-face instruction in Akan (Twi), French, Spanish, and Chinese (Mandarin). The courses are open to students, staff, and the general public, welcoming learners from all ages and backgrounds, whether a complete beginner or language enthusiasts.
Participants are at liberty to choose from flexible learning options, including weekday and weekend sessions, as well as duration tracks ranging from 2 weeks (intensive) to 12 weeks (comprehensive). Classes are held in person at the Central Classroom Block (CCB) on the KNUST campus, ensuring an interactive and engaging learning environment led by expert instructors. Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Competence from KNUST. Course fees are structured as follows: GHS 300 for students, GHS 500 for staff, and GHS 700 for non-staff.
The initiative reflects the department’s commitment to promoting multilingualism, cultural awareness, and effective communication skills essential in today’s globalised world.
