By: Rose Adjei Asamaoh
Dr. Levina Nyameye Abunya, the course lecturer for Language Acquisition and Development (LING 358), with her students recently embarked on an educational trip to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for practical insight on the course.
The trip to the Speech Pathology Unit of KATH and Allied Therapist Consult, was aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of language development in real context.
The field trip, organized for third-year students enrolled in the course, LING 358, was to expose the students to various language-related difficulties and the interventions used to support individuals, especially children with language disorders.
The visit also offered students invaluable insights into clinical practices, speech and language assessment procedures, and therapeutic approaches used by professionals in the field. It also allowed the students the opportunity to interact with staff and observe activities at the unit.
